Part B: The Course

1. General Description

The IELTS Premium Course focuses on preparing students to ace in their English language test by means of comprehensive tutoring and intensive exercise. This course aims to improve the student’s ability to achieve a good score in IELTS.

1.1. Tutoring

It is comprised of conventional pedagogy, in-class didactic lessons, audiovisual contents delivered through the eLearning platform of GREC and discussions in the secret Facebook study groups.

1.2. Exercises

They include short quizzes, pre-class assessments (called iRAT), post-class assignments (called fRAT), in-class prompt quizzes (called micro-quizzes) and a set of model test at the end of the course (which is sold as a separate bundle outside the course, however).

It is imperative for an enrolled student to abide by the tutoring instructions as well as exercise tasks.

1.3. Four pillars of GREC’s uniqueness

The IELTS Premium Course at GREC has been set with specific target lessons that cover all of these facets, namely: English Listening skill of students are developed by regular audio listening and question answer practice, introduction to various types of accents and so on. GREC encourages learners to develop their overall reading skills by making a habit of reading English books, newspapers and magazines and that is not all. The students go through intensive practice and error detection process in the class. Writing skill is developed by strengthening the basic grammar and essay writing ability of the students. Therefore, understanding the format of writing regarding IELTS becomes easy for them. GREC develops the overall communication skill of a student which evidently includes speaking as the main section. Students not only learn to speak in English but also becomes expert in communicating with others fluently in English. Students can take part in regular speaking clubs, debate sessions and many other activities outside the class at GREC.

Our teachers at GREC understand that the skills used for teaching are paramount to an effective and goal-fetching preparatory course. Also, the course has stimulating and fun lessons that engage the learners to develop Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking skills.

2. Who can take this course

Learners who are motivated to prepare him/herself to get into grad school or to secure a merit-based fellowship for grad school. Students who are not willing to display professionalism, punctuality, hard work and rigor essential for this course are strongly discouraged to get enrolled.

3. Duration of the Course and repeatability

Total 36 classes. Each class is 90-minute long. Generally, three classes are conducted per week. Therefore,

  • Total duration: 3 months
  • Total contact time with teacher: at least 3240 minutes.
  • Total validity of online account: 6 months

A student is allowed to repeat the course for unlimited times with no extra tuition fee. However, the online account is deactivated after 6 months, and therefore, students returning after six months to repeat the course will need to pay an adjustment fee of BDT 2,650/=.

4. Mode of delivering the didactic lessons

  • Conventional hybrid (on-site and online)
